"A heavy cold…" by 5th year

5th Year, Lourdes Sosa Mayer.

A heavy cold…

I remember the last cold I had… I had it on the winter holidays. I can say, that probably, it’s been the worst cold I’ve ever had until now.

One day, my little sister came from school with a hacking cough. She also had a fever and then she started to feel run-down. I took care of her while my mum was buying some medicine for her.

The next day (it was a Wednesday) when I was at school I felt run-down and I couldn’t concentrate on my homework and classwork. I’d woken with a high temperature but I didn’t care very much.

When I arrived home I was cold, so my mum prepared a hot soup for me and after that, she gave me a hot toddy- that had a disgusting taste! I was very tired so I went to bed and slept for 3 hours! When I woke up I had a terrible headache. At that moment the only ones that felt ill were my sister and I, my brother would feel bad two days later.

I skipped school on Thursday and Friday. I felt horrible for about 8 days… Luckily there was a weekend and I could rest very well.

As I had a high temperature of about 39° degrees, I was very thirsty. I drank a lot of water, as much as it was possible, so I went to the lavatory very often. My bed was full of used tissues and my nose was really runny.

The only positive thing I saw from having a heavy cold was to get the maximum attention and pampering from all my family, including from my brother and sister.

When I got better I was starving!!! I wanted to eat everything but nothing was enough. I went to the kitchen and I grabbed some eggs, a cake box, milk and other cooking tools. Then I took the blender, put all the ingredients in a bowl, mixed them and prepared a big and delicious cake.

The cake was the best after an awful week of remedies, bed rest, tissues and… heavy colds!!!

Horror Stories

A Strange Day

It was raining, the sky was dark. My father and I we were in our backyard.
There could hear strange noises, I didn´t know what had happened. Minutes later I decided to go and see. I approached the backyard, when suddenly I heard another sound similar to that of a baby crying.
I told my father about the crying, but he didn´t believe me, I didn´t care.
I didn´t know why it was me the one who could only hear that …it was very strange, but, well I just wanted to find out where the noise came.
My dad told me that when I was a baby ,I told him I could talk to dead people. I was so scared, I could not remember that conversation, Why I didn´t remember it?!
After thinking much, I told myself that I was dead and that that was the reason why I could listen to that noise, or maybe the baby just wanted my help, I didn´t know really. My mother told me that the crying I heard was me.

Mary and her mother moved to a very old house. In the night, the wind was blowing and it was raining. Mary was very frightened because she heard weird noises. They sounded like steps on the corridors and stairs. She was in her room, when she tried to turn on the light of the lamp but it didn’t work. So she tried to turn on the other light of her room but suddenly she hit something on the way, she touched it with fear and could see the face of a boy. She was paralyzed. Then, she ran out of the room and went with her mother who saw the same boy before. They took their things and left the house quickly. They could never find out if that boy was a ghost or a real man, but they promised themselves they were never going to come again…

The Visit

One girl called Ayelen rang the bell of an unknown house to ask for some water. A boy answered the door.
She asked : “- Could you give me a glass of water, please?”
And he answered: “- Yes, of course.”
When he gave her the glass of water, she asked again: “- Can I keep this glass as a gift?” and he said: ‘’Yes”
The next day, she went again to the house and asked for water again…Before she left, Ayelen gave an address to the boy, she said that someone had to say something to him.
The following day he went to the address written on the piece of paper. He saw a house, he knocked the door and a woman came…and the boy said: ‘’-Ayelen said, you had something to say to me’’. The woman looked at the boy with a sad face…and she said: ’’-Ayelen died dehydrated two years ago’’…He looked at the woman and began to run away.
The next day at boy ’ s house, the doorbell rings, he opens the door and he sees Ayelen ‘s glass and a note next: ‘’Thank you for the water and the glass, I was thirsty. Ayelen.’’
